Product Description In the more than twenty-five years since she co-founded Omega Institute - now the world's largest center for spiritual retreat and personal growth -Elizabeth Lesser has been an intimate witness to the ways in which people weather change and transition. In a beautifully crafted blend of moving stories, humorous insights, practical guidance, and personal memoir, she offers tools to help us make the choice we all face in times of challenge: Will we be broken down and defeated, or broken open and transformed? Lesser shares tales of ordinary people who have risen from the ashes of illness, divorce, loss of a job or a loved one - stronger, wiser, and more in touch with their purpose and passion. And she draws on the world's great spiritual and psychological traditions to support us as we too learn to break open and blossom into who we were meant to be.

Excellent - Broken Open May 19, 2010 R. Mauro (Australia) This is an excellent book. I highly recommend it, especially for those who have recently been through hard times in their lives.
Growth in times of change April 29, 2010 Urne Wisconsin (Tampa, Florida) This is an amazing book even if you are not experiencing a difficult time in your life. Her stories and advice were not only helpful but comforting as well.
Broken Open April 22, 2010 Robert Dale Mcelwee I have really enjoyed reading this book. It seems to really hit home for many people that I know, including myself, that need to hear the message that this book contains. It has helped me realize that those "big" things that seem to really bring us down are only that Big because WE make them that way. It gives some sound advice on how to get out of darkness that may be around you.
A very useful read March 8, 2010 Peter Strong (Boulder, CO, USA) If you suffer from anxiety or a deep fear, you are not alone; this is a part of the human condition. But we don't have to suffer endlessly because anxiety has an internal structure in the form of negative thoughts and beliefs powered by emotional energy that has become frozen in place. Uncover these patterns of negative thoughts and you are on the way to making significant change. As a mindfulness-based psychotherapist, I use mindfulness as the primary tool for doing just this, and I would recommend anyone to learn more about the therapeutic use of mindfulness in conjunction with good self-analysis. I also recommend 'The Path of Mindfulness Meditation' available through Amazon.
